Fall Composting Workshop
Northern Penobscot Tech Region III in cooperation with UMaine Cooperative Extension is offering a workshop on Thursday, September 28th at 4:00 p.m. to help you begin composting your kitchen scraps, yard and garden debris, and lawn clippings into “black gold”. Making and using compost not only reduces the trash going to the landfill, it also is an environmentally sound way to amend your garden soil. Compost will help sandy soil retain moisture by adding organic matter, but it will also lighten clay soil making it more friable. Conditioning your soil makes your plants happy by allowing the roots to penetrate more deeply, encouraging worm activity, and adding nutrients.
Call 794-3004 or email email@example.com to register for this informative workshop . Fall is a great time to get started composting as you clear your garden, rake your leaves and get ready for the next season.
Fall Adult Education class brochures are not being mailed this year, please stop by Region III and watch at area businesses and pick up your brochure with full listings and descriptions of fall classes.
