1 or 2 year program 

The Public Safety program is designed to introduce you to a career that is exciting and personally rewarding. This academically rigorous and physically demanding program emphasizes teamwork, and effective communication skills. Students will be asked to demonstrate a positive attitude and good moral characteristics that exemplify that of a Public Safety employee. This is a college level program that has a strong emphasis on Emergency Medical Services and Firefighting Skills. Specific skills covered in this program include:

Fire Fighter I

  • Qualifications and Safety Fire Service
  • Effective Communications Skills
  • Incident Management System
  • Tools and Equipment Usage
  • Rescue Techniques
  • Fire Behavior
  • Fire Truck Functions & Operation
  • Ethics and Ethical Issues

You are encouraged to be sponsored by a local Public Safety department and must be able to meet the physical demands of the program. Recommendations from both your guidance counselor and technical coordinator are required.

3 High School Credits for each year and College Credits while still in high school
