Northern Penobscot Tech Region III in Lincoln is planning to conduct a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) course beginning in September. Certified Nursing Assistants are currently in high demand at area Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Home Healthcare Agencies, and hospitals. CNA is one of the most important roles in the health care team. Their role is to assist not just the medical staff, but patients as well. While CNA is an entry level position, the CNA often is the professional providing the closest daily contact with a client which many find a rewarding experience.
The class will meet Mondays late afternoon/evenings and is estimated to run through May. The course satisfies the requirements of the State Board of Nursing in order to sit for the CNA exam which will be administered at Region III. The required hours include 90 classroom, 20 Lab, and 70 Clinical at area facilities. Admission to the course requires a completed application, Criminal Background check, proof of immunizations prior to clinical work at area facilities, and a reading test.
Applications can be picked up at the Region III office during business hours, printed from our website (click the link above), or by email (email your request for an application to firstname.lastname@example.org). The exact starting date may be determined by registrations as a full class is required. Register and apply early to secure your seat in the class. The cost for the class has been reduced to $800 fee which includes textbook, the required background check, processing, clinical set-up and supervision, as well as the State fee and administration of the test..
